Safe Home Remedies As a result of environmental pollution and the generally dirty air within cities, children fall ill very easily; suffering such symptoms as cough, fever and flu. We often seek treatment for our little ones at clinics or pharmacies where medicine is prescribed, however over the long run the consumption of such man made drugs is not thought to be beneficial for children. However, all is not lost, as there are simple, natural and safe home remedies which can also help to ease our children’s sufferings during these trying times. Honey The health benefits of honey are endless and have been used for centuries and centuries as a safe remedy. There are different types of honey, such as the very famous Kamahi and Manuka honey from New Zealand as well as the local and pure wild honey. The healing powers of the Kamahi honey were uncovered long ago by the indigenous people of New Zealand, the Maoris. Honey is thought to be a good remedy for coughs, people suffering from asthma and cardiovascular related ailments, to name a few. Garlic Garlic is commonly found in the kitchen, for the purpose of cooking, however this white jewel has also been known by the women folk to help with cracked heals. To alleviate and soften cracked heals; after pealing a clove of garlic, one should rub it against the cracked heal. Aloe vera (also known as the medicinal aloe) Aloe vera is thought to help with the healing of wounds, such as cuts and burn marks. It is also a good remedial agent for people suffering from dermatitis and other skin related problems such as acne as well as hair loss. Aloe vera is also reputed as a natural moisturizer. The benefits of aloe vera are famous, and as such people have started to manufacture drinks with aloe vera as the main ingredient, which help with the digestive system. Tamarind Tamarind can be found in many Malay dishes. It lends a sour taste to the dish. The Tamarind tree grows in abundant in Malaysia due the heavy rain fall. You can distinguish the tree by its very big and hardy trunk. The tamarind is combined with some warm water to make a warm drink to soothe sore throats. Also, diluting a bit of the tamarind with water, and rubbing a bit of the mixture onto your child’s head, will help with reducing high fevers and headaches. References: 1.
