In this episode,  Puan Indra Balaratnam (consultant dietition)
shares her opinions about healthy eating habits among Malaysian
Children. She says that many young children suffer from obesity
as a result of:

  1. Less physical activity
  2. Excessive consumption of fast food, due to the lack of time
    to prepare healthy and nutritious meals.

Dr. Zalilah Mohd Shariff  gave some advice regarding to Food
Pyramid to Shafizan. She said that from Food Pyramid, children
should:

  1. Consume all type of food classes but make sure it's a
    balance meal.
  2. Increase the intake from carbohydrate class
    (example: rice, noodles and cereals).
  3. Consume more fruits and vegetables.
  4. Decrease the intake from oil, fat and sugar class.

Meanwhile, Puan Indra also offered some SMART IMMUNE Tips for Dania who is 4 years old :

    1. ¾ of rice is enough for children at this age.
    2. Children at this age should drink about 20 oz. of milk a day. Children should not consume too much of milk, otherwise they will refuse to eat other meals.

Parents should encourage their children to choose their favourite foods but at the same time ensuring that there are other healthy ingredients from other food classes so that the meal is balanced and nutritious.
