Representatives of NGO’s,

Assalamualaikum w.r.t,

Good morning. Ladies and gentlemen,

It gives me great pleasure to lend my support to a cause that is very close to my heart – the development of strong family bonding.  As a working mother, I understand the significance of establishing a healthy environment, especially during the children’s formative years. Your video brings back memories of my early days as a mother. Now my children are growing up, I now look forward to a grand parenting role. Equally important is the support of the family to ensure children have the best childcare and most importantly, a well-balanced childhood. I practice this philosophy at home with my own family by emphasizing a healthy lifestyle.

Nutritek Overseas Pte Ltd.’s launch of NURAL “I Choose To Stay Close To My Family” Programme reflects the company’s understanding of today’s demands in their corporate social responsibility towards the community. The activities within encompass early care in all areas – health, mental and emotional.

It is very important to encourage “Stay Close to the Family“ because today’s evolving society & lifestyles, may not give us the opportunity to practice it as much as we want to. Among the challenges faced by Malaysian families today are balancing family and career, fulfilling economics need and wants, care of young children and the elderly, carrying out parenting functions effectively as well as managing stress.

Ladies and gentlemen,

The vision of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development is to be a focal point in achieving gender equality, family development and caring society as the basis for the formation of a developed nation of distinction. While its mission is
to integrate women, families and community into the mainstream of national development process and to strengthen the
family institution towards improving social well-being. This is done through the provision of efficient and effective social development programs and services by the Ministry as well as through strategic partnership. Projects like this “CSR I Choose
To Stay Close To My Family” Program which contributes to the development of strong, resilient and healthy families are always welcomed and supported by the Ministry.

Program of this nature are in tandem with the Ministry of Women Family and Community Development’s vision of family, community and national well-being. The National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB) which is an agency under the wing of the Ministry serves to contribute towards the development of quality population through the strengthening and promotion of family well being. Its vision is to develop strong, resilient and healthy families as the cornerstone of a caring society, a quality population and a progressive Malaysian society.

In line with the government’s call to strengthen the family institution, various family development programs have been implemented by NPFDB covering advocacy and promotional activities, research and development (R&D), counseling and family policy initiatives.

“I Choose to Stay Close to My Family” is a proactive initiative, encouraging each and everyone involved in our children’s
lives to share and monitor early care development. The NURAL program is about imparting knowledge and skills on early care to caregivers, parents and family to practice with our children from a very young age.

We need to continue to educate children on health issues, so that the ‘know how’ on early care for health will empower children to continue to stay healthy as they grow. We also need to continue to educate children on safety, so that they will know how to avoid dangers and protect themselves (when approached by strangers) - in other words, to be alert and smart individuals.

We need to educate children on the environment because the future depends on the children of today. With this, we teach
our children from a young age to be responsible for the place we live in.

Last but not least, we need to choose to stay close to our families because family bonding at an early age is the fundamental foundation of healthy adulthood.

A strong family bond embraces the beauty of loving and caring for each and everyone whom we call “Family”, be it with parents, child caregivers or teachers.

I view today’s launch of the program as a step forward in providing a perspective and  prime focus  to all childcare givers and parents on the critical need to go back to the fundamentals of a good wholesome upbringing.

We are definitely on track towards establishing a healthy environment for our leaders of tomorrow. Beyond a doubt, this program is certainly in line with the Ministry’s objectives of organizing, carrying out and supporting schemes and projects
focused on improving the well-being of the young child, welfare of family and the community as a whole.

I certainly can relate to this program all of which are relevant to my day-to-day life. As a working mother, I fully understand
the challenges modern parents face in raising their children. I am definitely looking forward to the activities that NURAL have planned where I can contribute my thoughts as well as bring back with me invaluable insights that will be shared with fellow colleagues at the Ministry.

The Ministry continues efforts in being a valuable partner to all parents, caregivers, children and the community at large. Let’s jointly make that choice to stay close to our families!

On this note, I officially declare opened this CSR program NURAL “I Choose To Stay Close To My Family”.

Thank you.
